thedudejb Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I am trying to model a piece that is basically box with chamfered edges, but I want the top of the box to have a arc or curve upward.....how can I do this??? it is driving me crazy. Quote
Cad64 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Can you post a sketch of what you're trying to do? I don't understand the part about the curve upward? Quote
thedudejb Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 So in this pic, take one of the side pieces by itself....it is a chamfered box in its most basic form...cut out the shapes and holes in the middle of it and you have the side almost complete except the top would still be parallel to the floor instead of arcing upward....does that make sense? thedudejb Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 The right front main side is the one I am referring to.... Quote
Cad64 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I would draw the profile with splines, and then extrude it. Quote
thedudejb Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 That makes sense, but then how do I chamfer all the edges after the extrusion is done? Quote
Cad64 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 The same way you would if just created a box. Select all the edges you want to chamfer and then use the Chamfer tool. Quote
thedudejb Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 I really appreciate your help on this...I was really going about in a way different way. Quote
thedudejb Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 One more rookie question....when I draw two lines intersecting, how can I trim off the sections extending past the intersection? Quote
thedudejb Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 actually nevermind...fund the trim feature Quote
