dwidner Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Using Civil 3D- Having trouble getting the volume for a stockpile. I have defined a stratum, and a site. Having trouble after that. Any tips!! Please. Quote
sinc Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 If you defined a stratum, then it sounds like you're actually using Land Desktop...? Civil 3D doesn't have strata. Quote
BlackBox Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Having trouble after that. Be more explicit... what trouble are you having exactly? Are there any error messages in the command prompt? Quote

Maybe the OP is using "AutoCAD Civil 3D Land Desktop Companion 200x"..... I don't know why they had to go and complicate the names.... Quote

I don't know why they had to go and complicate the names.... Agreed. I use AutoCAD Civil 3D Land Desktop Companion 2009 (the longest name ever!)... what I thought to be the last version of Land Desktop. I just finished some Floodplain Encroachment exhibits, and had to work out some kinks with someone improperly defining the site, strata, etc. *IF* the OP is in fact using LDC, I'd hoped that their potential error message would clarify exactly what needs to be done. I've found that if the user does not properly close the surfaces (using Terrain Model Explorer) when done, AutoCAD's memory will be consumed quickly. If this results in a crash, the user may need to redo a stratum, or volume surface, etc. It's a shame that Autodesk didn't provide a property or method within Land's ActiveX API to close the surface programmatically! In any event... waiting on a reply from the OP. :twiddling thumbs: Quote
