I have a situation where a block will not stretch properly after it's flipped. The problem appears to be that my AutoCAD2011 is not including all the items in the flip action selection set. When I create the flip selection set, AutoCAD says it found 8 items, but only 7 show up in the flip action properties. If I use an existing dynamic block from someone else, that already has Stretch & Flip actions, I can modify the flip selection set to include all 8 items and the block works fine, however if I deleted either the Stretch or Move actions and try to re-create them, Flip will only "take" 7 in the new selection set, and the stretch action doesn't "flip" properly.

I'm interested in knowing if anyone can fix the broken block in the drawing so it works when flipped, and if so, which version of AutoCAD was used?

Thanks

Thanks Krztoff. Yes, it does work. I see that you have all 8 objects included in your Flip Action Selection Set, which is something I cannot accomplish. I've tried left-crossing windows, right-crossing windows, and picking the objects individually. My AutoCAD2011 finds 8 objects, but it always excludes one of them without any explanation, and that seems to be the problem. What version of AutoCAD did you use to redefine the block, because I'm starting to think the 2011 block authoring tools in 2011 have been changed.

I can't seem to figure out why it didn't work for you, I simply selected all the objects as I would in any other way, and added them to the selection set. I used autocad civil3d 2008. I haven't yet tried to make dynamic blocks on the latest versions of autocad, so it is hard for me to comment on the issue you are having.

I appreciate your help Krztoff. I have a similar thread going at the Autodesk forums, and between the two topics, I've pretty much narrowed it down to a problem with the Block Editor failing to include one of the selected items in the Flip Action. Window, Crossing window, Fences, WPolygon, CPolygon, BOX, Multiple, and Add always drop one object from the selection set. QSELECT > All is the only way I can get everything in the selection I need, and then I have to remove anything I don't want flipped.

It seems I need someone with AutoCAD2011 to redefine the broken block I posted to see if it's a AutoCAD2011 Block Editor bug, or if I need to figure out what's messed up on my end.

I just tried the same modifications on civil3d 2011, and I got the same results as you did. I could only manage to get the desired stretching direction if I aligned the stretch parameter parallel to both middle lines (the long, straight ones).

Thank you Krztoff, you've been a big help to me. I was starting to doubt my sanity when everyone else could do it except me. There must just be something about 2011 that doesn't like flipping offset angle overrides. I'll file a feedback report with Autodesk.

No prob! Maybe there are some work-a-rounds or some new ways of doing what you need in the latest versions of autocad, but I currently couldn't dig much deeper into this issue, hopefully my empolyer will provide us with the latest autocad versions soon, then I will be able to explore it a bit more :)

That would be great, I'd love to know there's a fix other than simply hoping they fix it in the future.

The "work-a-rounds" I've found are:

1) Create the dynamic block by modifying an older dynamic block that already has the Stretch Parameter and Action included in the Flip Action set. It's OK to "modify" the selection set, but don't delete the Flip action, or create a "new" selection set for the flip, or you'll be starting from scratch again when you discover your block no longer works.

2) Use QSELECT > All to make the Flip Action selection set, Then use "modify" to Remove everything you don't want to flip. That's pretty easy in my sample block, but would be a pretty awful option in a complex block.

My reseller is kinda interested in the problem, but I honestly think it's a coding problem within the 2011 block editor.

The reason the number of objects selected are different in this particular block when editing in the AutoCAD 2010 and later Block Editor is because action objects are not selectable when the new system variable BACTIONBARMODE is set to 1.

The missing object was the STRETCHACTIONENTITY object in this drawing.

When BACTIONBARMODE is set to 0, then the legacy action objects are displayed and are selectable in the Block Editor.

By setting BACTIONBARMODE to 0, then the STRETCHACTIONENTITY object can be added to the Flip Action's selection set and then the stretch will work as expected after the block has been flipped.

Zuluwarper is the Autodesk technician that's been handling my support request.

Reverting back to the pre-2010 Block Editor actions does indeed seem to restore full functionality to the 2010-2011 block editor. I do prefer the cleaner look of the new action objects, so hopefully they'll fix them so they work like the older "lightning bolts"
