qball Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 The file highlighted on the jpg is my main CUI file and comes up as "acad.cuix", correct? So if I copy or move that file over to the server and change the file path to follow under Options, I should be able to access my workspaces no matter what computer in the office I log onto, right? qball Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 On a similar note, yesterday when I was on my main computer, I did the above process with Tool Palettes. Saved the palette to the server and changed the File Location to suit. I then exported my profile to the server. Now today I log onto a different computer and I see that my Tool Palettes File Locations is back to "C:\Documents and Settings...". It seems this change should have migrated over from computer to computer as long as I am logged in with my windows profile and the acad profile. Quote
nukecad Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 But even if you have your profile on the network, you have to tell the autocad on each machine where to look for it. You would need to add the extra path to your profile in the TOOLS > OPTIONS > FILES settings on each installation of AutoCAD that you are using. Quote
qball Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 hmmm, that's too bad. It seems that all that information should carry over with the profile. Fortunately I don't switch computers often. We're just installing 2011 on my main today. Quote
BlackBox Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 My company presently has our deployment load all customizations from a network location that is part of our Windows User Profile (which is present on any machine we log into). We have a 'Custom' CUI loaded as a partial into the Main.cui, so everything's portable. Also, perhaps this will be of use: http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?p=1092136#post1092136 Quote
BIGAL Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 (edited) We have lots of computers and the way we got around this was to save our profiles to a server, unfortunately every time you log onto a different computer it starts up a new user profile, we made sure with upgrades that every one was upgraded as the user who sat on that seat, even waited 2 weeks for one guy to come back from holidays. We found though saving the arg seems to work well and make sure their personal workspace is saved also rather than a workspace autocad. Also we would use a deployment but our network just does not like deployments, it just goes to sleep. Edited October 8, 2010 by BIGAL deployments Quote
