qball Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I read over some of the previous threads and couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for. I want to put the Centreline and Plate (aka Propertyline) symbols in my text. But preferrably it will match my text style (which is archquik. shx ?). I could turn it into a block to insert into Mtext, or textexplode and do the same if necessary. I read http://www.cadforum.cz/cadforum_en/how-to-add-own-symbols-to-mtext-symbol-list-tip6880 and http://blog.jtbworld.com/2007/11/add-personal-mtext-symbols-or-text.html JTB's puts the new symbol right in the pull-down menu, but I believe his custom symbols are just text, and not a block. Is there a way to do what I want? Quote
ReMark Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 You want the symbols to match your text style but you don't want to go the 'block' route. Is that correct? Quote
qball Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 As long as the block is embedded in the MText, I'm good with that. Maybe a quick code or insertion method would help too. Quote
BlackBox Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Not sure about 2010, but this is a thread asking a similar question for 2011: http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=123858 Note Robert Bell's 'foggy' answer ( Quote

I believe ReMark meant you might use a block, which already has this text style formatted. You cannot 'embed a block within MText'... whereas you can 'embed the MText within the block'... Make sense? qball Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 no the block wouldn't work. Too many variables to the surrounding text. Quote
BlackBox Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Well Qball, If the registry route doesnt work, and the block isn't going to work, I just not sure what to say. Good luck! Quote
qball Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 I don't want to mess with the registry. If I find something I'll post up. Quote
monk Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Can you not create your own font, and then create your own symbol within. Very much like the windings fonts. you can then insert it?Not as difficult as it sounds Quote
Tankman Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 From the cadforum-cz. Both AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT contain (since version 2000) basic sets of symbols and blocks (for civil, mechanical, mapping and electrical engineering) available through the DesignCenter (ADC) function - since version 2004 on the DC Online tab. To gain access to a library of thousands of other symbols for AutoCAD (or LT) you can purchase the Autodesk Symbols product. Extensive libraries of more than 1.000.000 standard mechanical parts are included in AutoCAD Mechanical, Mechanical Desktop and Autodesk Inventor products. Libraries (families) of intelligent architectural components are available in Autodesk Architectural Desktop and Autodesk Revit Building. The CL and PL symbols are or are not already there depending on the font you're using. Quote
