rohitjvbibin Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 SEANT, My drawing is almost over. If u can get some time to help me out with this last section I will be grateful. I am sending you a section of my diagram. you have already seen this section. I have included the dimensions. Can u see if u can help me with sweeping that section over the length . The blue line is the line i have used for listing the top and bottom diameter. So please see if u can draw a sweeped solid. Please reply when time persists. Waiting for ur reply. RohitjvBibin Quote
SEANT Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Post the diagram and I'll see what I can do. Quote

SEANT Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 (edited) This is my best effort; hopefully it will do. The geometry creates too large a file as a .DWG so I’m sending it as an ACIS file. First uncompress the ZIP file, then, in AutoCAD, insert it via the _acisin command. Helix.zip Edited November 16, 2010 by SEANT Quote
rohitjvbibin Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 Hi there Mr. SEANT, Thanks for ur previous file. It worked perfectly and I was successfull in exporting it into my meshing software GAMBIT by ANSYS. Please see if u have time for a small help too. Below is an attached file which you has modelled (using LOFT command i suppose). The only problem with it is it is not a 3d solid but consists of lines and regions. i am not able to export it as an ACIS (*.sat) file into GAMBIT. I tried sweeping it again but am not able to match upto ur perfection. Kindly see if you can convert it into a 3d solid or else please delete it and see if you can draw me a new one with the dimesions i have provided. The line I have measured the dimensions is a blue line marked in the figure. I have also included the new rectangular crossection for you which you can loft across. Please not that the sweeped object should stay in the area just like the previous one. It should not go above or below the area. The file is located here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/cnmg5d I would be grateful for ur help and reply. Eagerly in need of ur help RohitJVBibin Quote
SEANT Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I don’t really have much spare time to offer, I’m afraid. As a matter of fact I interrupted other tasks while offering previous assistance to this project. I enjoyed it, though, because I found the modeling process interesting. Interest, as I’m sure you know, wanes considerably – to an extent that what was once stimulating becomes tedious. Show me the full scope of this project: that’s very likely to renew interest. Quote
rohitjvbibin Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 Hi SEANT, I can understand ur time and mood constraints. I'm sorry I asked you to draw me the diagram once again. I am getting an error that it is not a region or 3d solid when exporting so I atleast want the above drawing as 3D solid instead of lines which i cannot export. If youo could help me with this I would be grateful to you. Kindly find some time from your tasks if possible and see if you can modify the drawing instead of drawing a new one. Hoping that you will take interest this time. Really thankfull to you from the first post itself ROHITJVBIBIN Quote
SEANT Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 . . . .if you can draw me a new one with the dimesions i have provided. The line I have measured the dimensions is a blue line marked in the figure. I have also included the new rectangular crossection for you which you can loft across. Please not that the sweeped object should stay in the area just like the previous one. It should not go above or below the area. . . . . The linked file is not entirely clear on what is the new Cross Section (Presumably the 6.0 x 1.2 rec) and the area in which it should be contained. The red lines do not seem capable of containing the helixed solid. Quote
rohitjvbibin Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 Yes SEANT. I know that the section is out of the red line area and that is on purpose. I shall subtract it from the outer casing(not in figure) above the lines when i export it into the software GAMBIT. You can proceed with the same rectangular section when time persists. Thank you for responding. RohitJVBibin Quote
SEANT Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 I'm curious: Why the need for a constant 20 Degree gradient? Acis file attached. LargerHelix.zip Quote
