andynshaw
Hi everyone, I have a contour map with 40' contour lines that I am trying to make into 5 foot contour lines. So basically I need to learn how to generate the 5 foot lines between the 40' lines... attached is a screenshot...I need to figure out how to generate contours lines between each of the red 40' lines to create 5' contours. Is there a simple way to do that? Thank you for your help... Andy
ReMark
40 foot contour interval? So you could have an 80 foot contour and the next would be 120 foot right? Then you want to know where to locate the 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, and 115 foot contours. Couldn't you measure the distance between two contours and divide by 8? No matter what, it would be a lot of work. Seems like something that could be handled by contouring software if you had all the raw data to begin with. Do you? andynshaw
Yeah, I was wondering if there was any kind of offset/array command or something where you could pick, say, the 40' line and the 80' line and then it would generate 45' , 50' , 55' , 60' , 65' , 70' , 75' in between the two 40' contours. The only contour map I could find of the site was at 40' so that's all I have. I am making a large scale contour model and need to figure out how to generate the 5' contour lines from the 40' lines. Is there any alternative than just drawing them in by hand? Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks, Andy
lpseifert
I think your best bet would be to find a seat of Civil 3D or other vertical/3rd party software to accomplish the task. Maybe this site could help you. But you realize that creating 5' contours from 20' contours isn't really "kosher". The accuracy of the created contours will be highly questionable. OK for conceptual work I guess.
