lpseifert Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 For one when you select all the lines you want if does not "Combine" lines that are the same length. See page 5 of the Wizard - Combine Identical Rows - for equal length lines See attached image... I extracted the length of 3 lines- 1 line was 110 long, 2 lines were 100 long. Also there is no link between the line and the data extracted so there for the it's worthless to me to extract the data when it's not updateable other than manually. I can probably deal with having to update it manually if the information extracted is linked in some way. They're linked- select an outside border of the table, rt-click and pick Update Table Data Links. Also... you can create a table by Dataextraction in one dwg, copy it to another dwg and it will still be linked to the original dwg. Quote

fcfcadd Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 These are the selections to make in the FIELD dialogue This table with fields options seems to be working the best for me as of right now. Kind of a pain to update all the info. Question though. Can you use this field option in an attributal block? Well never mind. I just figured out that you can use a field from within an attributal block. Sweet. Quote
bass_mark00 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Yes, the fileds can be embedded within a block and will still update. Quote
lpseifert Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Only 2 of your lines are the exact same length Yeah, fields is probably your best bet. Quote
fcfcadd Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 That's where I was saying it's not updating properly. As you can see there were 9 lines that were the same length but it only combined 2 of them in the same row. I have a feeling it's looking for lines that are the same in every aspect such as length, layer, etc... Typical AutoCAD and it's bugs. But yeah so far this fields option is working ok. Just have a bunch of text to convert to fields. Quote
