bass_mark00 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I'm looking for a solution to achieve a symmetrical stretch around a mid-point in a dymanic block. The specific example I have is a wall radiator which is dynamic and is able to stretch to alter the length. The result I'm after is to be able to stretch the radiator using a single grip and for the radiator to strech equally to the right and to the left of the mid-point. Is this possible? Also, when dynamic blocks were first introduced (2007 I think), there was a property associated with linear parameters called Distance Multiplier Overides which seems to have disappeared in recent years. If anyone has also used them before and knows where to find them I'd love to know. Thanks Quote
ReMark Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I'm running 2011 today and just checked my Help file. Under Specify Properties for Dynamic Blocks distance multiplier overrides is listed as an option. Quote
bass_mark00 Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 Thanks, I've managed to find the Distance Multiplier, it's under the properties of the Action and not the Parameter. Any ideas on the symmetrical stretching? Quote
ReMark Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Click Insert tab Block panel Block Editor. At the Command prompt, enter bedit. In the Block Editor, select a move, stretch, polar stretch, or array action. On the Properties palette, Overrides area, Distance Multiplier, enter a value. Press Enter. Quote
dbroada Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I was about to reply that it is easy to stretch symetrically with 1 grip when I saw that you said distance multiplier is no longer present. That is what I use to do symetrical stretches! (Set one to 50% & the other to -50%) If it has gone then I don't think I can help you as I'm using 2008. Quote
ReMark Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I believe what you are looking for is referred to as adding an XY parameter. That too is covered in your Help files. Quote
bass_mark00 Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 Thanks Dave, fortunately the multiplier is still there and I've managed to do it using your +50% & -50% method and using a double grip not a single. Result! Quote
bass_mark00 Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 Actually a single grip still works fine as both Actions are associated to the single grip anyway. Quote
dbroada Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 good. you can also do it with 50% multipliers and a 0 and 180 degree direction. in 2008 you set the parameter up to have 0(!), 1 or 2 grips. Quote
