setting dynamic input default: length change not resulting dimension

is there a way to change the default dynamic input field from 'resulting dimension' to 'length change'? my friend has it like that, so i guess there must be!

in case this isn't clear:

i want to resize a line, making it 10 longer. so i select an end grip, drag it out, and enter 10. but instead of adding 10 to the line legth, the line becomes only 10 long.

in 2008, this would do the trick, as i want. now i just upgaded, 2009 has a different default. how do i change this?

ps. i don't want to tab each time, and my maths is not good enough to input the total length in the firat place!

thanks, and sorry for the long winded question.

I think this can be the same variable that governs if coordinates that you input are relative or absolute by default. The variable is DYNPICOORDS, try changing it to 1 (or to 0 if it is 1) and see if that does the trick.

doesn't seem to make a difference. thanks for the suggestion.

Probably not what you want to hear, but try inputting #10

i have come accross this problem again - don't understand......

there must be a variable, or box to tick somewhere. is it a dynamic input thing, or something else?

I don't know about 2009, but in 2011, it defaults to "Length change" if both are selected, but it can be "forced" into either mode by unchecking the one you don't want.
