CAnnondale Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Hi Guys, I have a query on what is the correct/proper way to create a Project folder. This is my set-up; Project Name = Inventor_Projects Project Location = D:\Inventor_Projects Then, under the D:\Inventor_Projects are the clients folder; 1. Client1 Project1 Project2 2. Client2 Project1 Project2 3. Client3 Project1 Project2 4. Standard iParts. Hilti Channels CD Studs Pipe's I-Beams The reason why? I am asking your opinions is that, I noticed a slowdown on the AI Suite 2010 performance after installing the SP3. I have in-deed ask the dealer/sellers assistance on this matter. But, after trying to fix the problem I was told to create individual Projects Name per clients project. (I was kind a surprise with the recommendations). If that is true, every time we have a new project I have to create a new Projects Name just for that particular project. Any input's is pretty much appreciated. Quote
nukecad Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I have always done it like that everywhere I have worked. e.g. Where I work now typical pathnames would be: G:\server1\projects\clientname\project number\drawings\arrangements\drawing number.dwg G:\server1\projects\clientname\project number\documents\design docs\design specification.doc G:\server1\Acad_files\parts\valves\supplier name\model number side.dwg That way it is easy to track down a job and all the relevant drawings and documents which would be saved in the particular 'project number' folder. Having folders and subfolders like this should not slow anything down, but if you use x-refs then you need to be careful with the pathnames. Quote
