ironman Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I'm trying to import some cylinder-shaped columns into 3dmax from autocad, and i have my importing settings under "geometry" at wire threshold = 0, smooth angle = 10, curve steps = 1, surface deviations for 3D solids = 0. Not only does it take forever to import them, but they render horribly. I have them imported at those settings - should i change something in my rendering settings? Thanks for any help. Quote
Cad64 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Set your weld threshold to 0.1, smooth angle to 15.0, curve steps to 10 and max surface deviation to 0.01 for importing, then apply a smooth modifier to further smooth the columns before rendering. Quote
nbri0009 Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 How do you access these settings to set curve steps and surface deviation ? Quote
Cad64 Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 The "Autocad DWG/DXF Import Options" dialog pops up automatically when you import a CAD file. Quote
