how to make sprocket in auto cad 2007

Salam (May Allah Peace Be Upon Him/Her)

 

i m using autocad 2007. i dont know how to make sprocket tooth or simply sprocket in cad.

the outer dia of sprocket is 3 inches

no. of teeth of sprocket is 17

 

please tell me the optimum way for this it urgent

you need more info about the sprocket(follow the excellent link remark posted). what pitch chain are you running. You will basically need to draw one tooth and do a polar array(command ARRAY). In the array dialog you you will have option for polar or rectangular, you want polar. you will need to select all the lines you want to array, your rotation point, and the number or copies. there is also a selection for rotate while copying( i dont remember the exact terminology) but you will need that checked(default is checked i believe).

BTW...the link I provided depicts how to draw up one tooth of a sprocket. Once you have done that it is up to you to create the full sprocket using the Array command. Of course you have to have some idea of the type of sprocket you want to create and have at hand all the pertinent dimensions otherwise you're designing in the dark without a clue.
