G'day All

I have a problem with AutoCAD 2007 that i am running (pretty sure my tight a$$ boss got it as a dodgy copy) is really giving me the sh&ts.

Everyday everytime i open up a new drawing or another drawing someone else has created, i lose my settings.

forexample the coordinate system changes, the default settings for viewres change, dimassoc reverts to 0, regenauto resets to off, etc etc.

could someone please help me make it stay the way i like?

also, what am i looking at in terms of cost to convince my boss to buy the latest genuine copy?

Not a good idea to talk about dodgy copies, Autodesk take very serious breach of copyright. I know of a company that got done for numerous copies, they had purchased some but put on more staff for a project and used dodgy's. They had to buy at full retail price all copies not legit to avoid court action.

It was suspected that a opposition company who lost the project bid may have dobbed them in.

Autodesk will pay for dobbing in people.

No, this is not a fault-

The variables you mention- viewres, dimassoc, regenauto, as well as various other variables are saved in the drawing.

So when you open a new drawing it brings in its own value for those variables.

Just a suggestion...open up a drawing of yours, with your settings. Then import the new drawing into yours. The new drawing will be in your settings. Resave under new name.

Create an autocaddoc.lsp file, place it in the search path somewhere, or place it in a folder of your making and add that to the search path in options, files,....

Keep adding any settings you wish were there when you open a drawing.

See attached file for a start.
