CBear Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 On my work computer I've got the toolbox menu where you can insert blocks....ie pick a subject then a box comes up with a whole bunch of blocks with their names on the left and images of them in a table on the right which you can then insert in the drawing. I would like to know how to make my own toolbox and block library on my home computer from scratch, or what it's called so I can try and find a tutorial on the net...any info would be much appreciated! lpseifert Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I would suggest that you look into using Toolpalettes. Quote
CBear Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 I'm trying to add a menu in the CUI (I think) that can insert blocks and/or bring up a pop up menu with different blocks in it...attempting to copy from one that already exists but not entirely sure how the macros work. For example under a sub menu there's the title 'people', when you click on it in the drop down menu it brings up a box with different people blocks so you can then pick one to put into the drawing. When I click on it in the CUI the macro is $I=DT.furnd $I=* what on earth does that mean? And how has it combined all the people blocks into it? Arrgghh so confused! Please help it's driving me nuts! oh i'm using autocad 2009... Quote
Pablo Ferral Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 This sounds like a 3rd party plugin. Speak to your CAD Manager... Quote

Those are in reference to Image Tile Menus, which can be found in the Legacy section of the CUI. For use they require creating slides and slide libraries for the images. They are a holdover from .mnu menus (hence the reason they are in the Legacy section) and for practicality have been replaced by Toolpalettes Quote
BIGAL Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 If you want to go the old fashioned way its not that hard you can create your own menu's outside of the CUI nad use menuload to bring it in. Basicly you create a slide image of whats on your screen you can then either leave them individual or bunch them together slidelibrary. The menu is basicly a list of slides and the commands to be carried out. I went this way because we control exactly what is displayed as an image and we group common objectsto a menu option. have a look at tool pallette first and if its not what you want just ask here and will post examples of menu's Also created around 400 slides automatically theres lot of shorthand ways to do it.
