thegodplato Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 We have just got Autocad MEP 2010 and although there is the PAN tab at the lower right hand side of the screen, I am used to holding down the mouse wheel to pan across. Can't for the life of me work out how to set it. Must be easy. Help! Quote
Tiger Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 MBUTTONPAN is the variable you are looking for, set it to 1 Quote
thegodplato Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 Thanks but that hasn't made any difference. It was already set to 1, so I tried 0 and that didn't work. Could it be the Logitech mouse I've been given? Quote
Tiger Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Could be yes, if you search for Logitech +mbuttonpan you'll see some suggestions on what to look for with your windows-settings for your mouse. Quote
Hugh_Compton Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 As well as the Windows settings type in CUI and look at the mouse settings there. --------------------------------------- 3D AutoCAD Pipework - http://www.HerculeDesign.com/ Quote
Tankman Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Does your Logitech have a middle scroll wheel and a button? Whatever your choice, set the wheel to button, your choice. Or, make sure the button is set as a button. Logitech has a program CD ships with the mouse. Might you have it? Quote
thegodplato Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 I've downloaded a new driver for it but only can set the wheel to scroll rather than pan. This could be Universal Scroll, Auto Scroll. The other thing I can set it to is Keystroke Mode which I'm not sure what that is really Quote
alanjt Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 In your LogiTech settings, there should be a Default option for each button/wheel. Quote
Cad64 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Which Logitech mouse is it? If it's the MX Revolution, then you will have problems trying to use the scroll wheel as the middle mouse button for panning. You can make it work by changing the settings, as Alan suggested, but it's still a pain to use. I'm currently looking for a new mouse because of this issue. Quote
thegodplato Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 Its a M-RBQ124 as far as I can tell from the underneath of the mouse. I have tried the wheel as set above by Ipseifert and all that does is bring up a shortcut menu with a list of OSNAP options headed by Temp Track Point. To be honest I am using the mouse whilst in the office which is for a week in every month, the rest I'm at home using a different mouse, so maybe I just have to put up with it whilst in the office? Dana W Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 In that case, I'd pack a spare mouse and the install disk in my briefcase and stick it on the office computer. Quote
Tankman Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I do like Logitech but, the scroll wheel I don't like using for a button. I like the Logitech with both the scroll wheel and a center button. Hold the center button down 'n pan away. Top left, battery life indicator. The mouse did get a new battery 'bout a week ago, an AAA Duracel. Quote

In the office, look in your programs. Might you have the Logitech program? You'll get the screen lpseifert posted. From their set the scroll wheel to button. Quote
thegodplato Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 I have re-installed the Logitech program as per Ipseifert's post which although does give me a similar screen shot, and I set teh scroll to middle button, I only get what I posted yesterday - IE no pan when held down, just scroll up/down, or scroll left/right. The scroll wheel is touchy. I find not hold down but, hold down with backward (towards the palm) push works for panning. I do like the smaller mouse with both the scroll wheel and the built in center button. Works very well. Quote

Did you also check Other under Select Task and then Select function = Middle Button? Without that, it still won't work. Quote
