Barrel Rifling?

Hello,

 

Recently I started an air rifle project, and currently I'm trying to figure out how to rifle the barrel. However I have no idea where to begin.

 

 

Either type requires that I define a full turn per inch.

I would start by Extruding the barrel profile to the desired length... I used 24" here:

 

Make your rifling profile to be cut with the coil feature:

 

Create your coil using revolution to height ratio. (don't forget to use the cut option):

 

Now circular array your cut coil 8 times or what ever is required:

 

Finish:

 

Now actually making the barrel is another story...

Hmm, well thanks however I can't seem to get the coil tool to pop out the OK button. Probably due to me forgetting how to use the coil tool, so I'll go look that up real quick.

I'm gonna sound like such a newbie, but how do I select the z axis?

You may have to click on the arrow in order for the axis to highlight in the browser.
