Contagon Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Alright, got another noob question. I've got my sketch that I want to revolve around the x-axis. (See below) Except when I do it's always as a surface instead of a solid. It also says "Unable to revolve 1 selected object." This object is the line on the x-axis. Anyone know how to fix this? Quote
Cad64 Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Your profile needs to be one continuous Polyline in order to create a Solid. Use the PEDIT command to join all line segments and then try REVOLVE again. Quote
busseynova Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 It's worth mentioning that it needs to be a closed polyline to form a 3Dsolid (if I'm not mistaken). You can do this in the PEDIT command too, or in object properties (it's on a drop down there somewhere). Quote

If the starting and ending points of the polyline are on the center axis of revolution, a solid will be created without having to close the polyline. But if one, or both, or the endpoints are not on the center axis, a Surface (Revolve) will be created. Quote

I thought that just because all my corners were intersecting and NOT overhanging that my sketch was closed. With the PEDIT Command I was finally able to do a revolve in ACAD 2004. Quote
