ecshclark Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Within Sketch is there a way to pick the center of a line when using the Move, Rotote or Copy commands? When I draw geometry, a green node appears when I hover over the center point of of line and I can connect to that, but not when using the move commands. As a work around I've been drawing points, lines & construction lines at the centers prior to the move. Quote
JD Mather Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 I don't think you are using the sketcher correctly. I have used the Move maybe once in 7 years (when they first put it in there a couple of years ago). Never had the need for it. Can you attach your file here? Quote

Yes you can, however, as JD stated those commands are rarely used and you should use dimensions to manipulate your sketch geometry. After selecting say the rotate command when selecting the base point right click on the line and you will have an option for "midpoint" and you will be able to select the green center node. KC Quote
ecshclark Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 I've grown to old and stupid to have thought to use the right mouse button. JD has used the move command once in 7 years? JD needs to get out more often! I cut and paste alot of 2d CAD geometry into Inventor for various purposes. That is when I find the need to move geometry to a specific location. I usually do not have any need to constrain -or autoconstrain- this geometry. Sometimes it is quicker and easier to move or rotate free geometry than to deal with constrained geometry. Thanks! Quote
