delliott Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Is it possible to insert a raster image .tif into a cad 2008 drawing? If so, how can I do it! Quote
ReMark Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 You should take a look at the IMAGEATTACH command. Quote
The Buzzard Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 IMAGEATTACH doesn't work in 2008 Just type IMAGE and a dialog similar to the XREF manager will appear. You can attach an image similar to the you do with XREF. Quote
delliott Posted June 2, 2010 Author Posted June 2, 2010 Its only allowing us to load a DWG file, it doesn't give us any other choice, like a tiff, ect... Quote
delliott Posted June 2, 2010 Author Posted June 2, 2010 Its Autocad LT 2008 and it doesn't give you the choice to attach a image Quote
jvillarreal Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=21891 Azzro10: i dont know if u can do this in LT but if u cant xref try inserting it as an OLE object. Select Insert > OLE Object > Bitmap Image This will open Paint, Select Edit > Paste From, then select the image your after. Then exit Paint Hope this works for u Quote
The Buzzard Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Its Autocad LT 2008 and it doesn't give you the choice to attach a image Sorry about that, I did not realize it was LT. This is an image from ACAD 2009 and you can see at the bottom that tiff as well as many other images are included. Maybe you should switch to a full version. Quote
delliott Posted June 2, 2010 Author Posted June 2, 2010 Thanks! OK, so, its the LT that doesn't support more than 3 types of files and tiff is not one of them. I use LT 2010 and another guy here is using LT 2008. 2010 allows all file types, so I will have to insert the image in to the drawing and then he can open the drawing and trace over the image. Seems to be the only solution! Quote

jvillarreal Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Azzro10's suggestion worked in 2008 LT. It should allow selection of a TIFF through paint, but if not, simply convert it to another file type through paint. Quote

delliott Posted June 3, 2010 Author Posted June 3, 2010 JVILL, doing the OLE method takes way to long to load up with large images. WAY TO LONG, but thanks anyway Quote
