Civil 3D Assembly with offset base point

Hi all

I've created an assembly divided highway with a median strip down the centre. however the design information is not based on the centre line but rather an design line on the edge of the median strip. is there a way for me to change the base point of the assembly to the edge of the median strip? if i drag it over it just returnes to the centre when i refresh.

thanks

Hong...you need to give us a little more information on exactly what sub-assemblies you chose? A screen shot would be nice.

here's a screen shot of what i'm trying to do.

basically i have design information that does not run down the centre of the road but on the side. (where the square box is)

my Assembly contsists of:

MedianConstantSlopeWithBarrier

GenericPavementStructure

then basic shoulder, gutter, sidewalk

I've manage to get half way there by dragging the baseline and origin markers however they are not easy to manipulate and snapping does not work when i'm trying to reposition the 2 markers. at the moment i've just zoomed in as far as i can and places the markers with snapping off.

so i'd like to be able to place the 2 markers precisely where i currently have them appriximately. or if i'm going about it totally the wrong way please let me know

Cheers

Hong.....after looking at the ingrediants of your assembly, my suggestion would be to create another assembly with the proper base point where you want it. That way you are not fighting trying to change it.

I've tried that but the problem is that i have a median strip in the middle and i can't place that at an offset to one side?

The control reference line should be able to go any where you like all other line work (alignments) is referenced to that. just moving it may cause problems then to other offsets.

I would tackle a divided road by creating an alignment that best fits the shape of the road approx in the middle bearing in mind that cross sections are created square to this line.
