DHUDELSON
Hello! I have to believe that this task is a piece of cake for anyone who's done 3D anytime since CAD class in '97 --that would be me who typically does construction plans...roads, parking lots, water mains... So if you look at the attached .pdf and .dwg, you'll see side, top & section views of this sculture going to be various scaled sizes, kind of like a school of fish, reflecting the sun & city nightlights, in the river running through the downtown. In attempting to create a 3D solid, I've tried various extrusions and subtractions, but ain't gettin' it. The main obstacle is that there needs to be a continuous arc (as shown in section A-A) that conforms to both the top and side views. I'd actually tried extruding 1/2 of section A-A along half of the top view for a path, but the section A-A arc radius is ever-changing. If someone could explain the procedure that'd be cool...rather than just doing it...the old "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime,” scenario. Muchas gracias. sculpture1.dwg sculpture1.pdf

JD Mather
DHUDELSON: Do I have the correct shape? Doesn't look like that would give Section A-A. Well, I'm off to the lake.
DHUDELSON
JD is correct...it needs to be arc'ed as in Section A-A. Here's a screen shot of an isometric view half fish lying on its side, made of simple polylines.
MikeScott
loft command?
DHUDELSON
"loft" was indeed the ticket. Mirrored the above arcs to get a full fish, pline-joined'em, then "loft", using the plines as sections. Don't recall "loft" being around back in R13....was more like what the kids did while the folks was at the hoedown. Thanks!
