lostincad Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 hi guys...me again.. I'm having problems with the line thickness of a drawing my boss gave me to work on. after plotting it i realized that the lines which i have drawn and the ones he has drawn are different thickness so naturally i made a new layer in the layer properties manager and made a new line with a set thickness. after doing that i selected all the drawing and selected the appropriate line which i have made so all the line thickness would be the same. however... after plotting it looks like nothing has changed the lines i drew and the ones he drew look very different due to the thickness difference. do any of you guys have any ideas of how this can be corrected? i have tried the default line also... and nothing seems to work. ReMark Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 There is lineweight and line width. Lineweight can be assigned in the Layer Properties Manager. Line width is something that can be assigned to polylines. You can also control what lineweight a line is plotted with in your ctb or stb plot style file. Now, what exactly did you do that is different than your boss? Quote
lostincad Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 omg... that made no sense to me what so ever!! i'm kinda rusty on autocad well i didn't do anything different from him i don't think. i mean it was a DWG file which i added more work to it and saved it then plotted it then the line weight issue started. but i tried ro default all the lines to the same thickness which didn't work either. the problem is it's not my boss who did it, it was someone who worked for him and i have no bloody idea who he is haven't met him yet. so i can't ask him. my actual boss knows nothing about autocad. but you know the file looked ok i guess. just a normal drawing and i added a line here and there but for some reason some of the lines i drew are thicker than the ones the guy drew. Car5858 Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 You should click on the toggle button for line weigh on/off. This way you can preview the lines. Quote
lostincad Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 what's a toggle button? what does it look like? where can it be found? the lines i can see but some of them look thinner than others after i plot them to file. Quote
Car5858 Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Lower left hand corner of the program window. Quote
lostincad Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 I have figure out what the toggle button does! and omg.. the lines look weird in model space just like they did when i plotted them. so we can rule out the problem being with the plotter. for some reason these lines and different thickness and i can't change them... bless you all for putting up with me since i know little about autocad. lostincad Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 i was just posting i found the toggle button when you sent that jpeg. thank you it confirmed what i said. Quote
Car5858 Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Use the list command on one of the lines that your boss drew. Or compare the properties oh the two different lines. You can also use match properties command to change your lines to match. Quote
lostincad Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 ok i have turned on the toggle button to show lineweight... i changed all the drawing to 0 in the current layer option. after doing that all the lines look the same size in model screen but when i plot them they seem to look just like they did before. some lines thin some lines thick. lostincad Posted April 24, 2010 Author Posted April 24, 2010 sir you are a genious! i had no idea what you're talking about then i played around with the lines, i selected a line then right clicked and selected 'properties' this suide bar came up and i compared the 2 different lines and looked at the lineweight and layer. they were different so i selected the whole of the drawing then chose the same linetype and line weight and it bloody well worked! i plotted it and all the lines look the same thickness. thank goodness...and thank you guys so much for helping me out [= Quote
