DSVeeco Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I am trying to create something like this... in solidworks... Im not sure what the steps are to get there but my thoughts are to create the solid (the tubing with the ribs, then shell it out) then some how bend it. Is there a way to do this in solid works? shift1313 Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 You can create a sketch and revolve that(inside and out) or shell it. then use the Insert>features>Flex to bend it. Quote
DSVeeco Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 Awh... Sweet, that's the command I was looking for. Thanks! Quote
shift1313 Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 As another method if you drew one ring and one flat(if that makes sense) you can do a curve driven pattern for the tube. It may be a little easier to control the model rather than bending it with Flex. It all depends on the end result you are looking for though. Quote
JD Mather Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 You might use a cosmetic texture rather than modeling the ribs - from a bit of a distance you can't tell the difference and cuts down on processing time. Quote
