Offsetting text along a polyline

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have recived a drawing with 6,000m of chainages, with text every 100 metres with the chainage.

There is a point every 100m and the text is next to this point.

Now I need to increase the size of this text, which is easy.

However the problem comes when I need to move the text, it needs to stay in the same location, but move further away from the polyline.

I tried an offest of the chainage line, and moved the text, however the text is not where it should be.

I'm hoping this makes sence and I would be very gratefull for some advice!

Many thanks,

Mark

sounds like a job for a block, and the use of the measure command

Can you upload the drawing so I can have a look?

Am I wrong or doesn't this statement contradict itself?:?

Yeah it does in a way but I get what he's driving at.

The measure command will not work in this instance, as it is not the same block. Also, of you offset the polyline, it is a different length.

I need the text to be moved perpendicular to the new and existing polyline.

I have attached a drawing, which hopefully shows what I am trying to say!

Thanks again.

I'm struggling to understand, now I've had a look at the drawing, what problem you're having.

If you just use the extend command for your white lines to the new blue poly line then move your text to the intersect point then they will still be in the same place.

I've attached another drawing, which shows what I am trying to do.

It can be done manually but I have an awfull lot of it to do!

The text size I can increase very easily, its the moving of it where the time is taken up.

Ok well I've had a look the best I can come up with is select all the text you want to move use the move command and move it @2,12. then it's in the right position. Well it is on the drawing you've up loaded.
