MisterJingles Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Hi all Why would AC not allow me to offset a polyline? It asks me to Select the object to offset from and when I do, it doesnt create the new line and asks me again to Select the object to offset from. What am I missing? Rob Quote
MisterJingles Posted February 19, 2010 Author Posted February 19, 2010 I need to offset by 0.6units Quote
BearDyugin Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 At me at most sometimes happens for 3 reasons: the distance offset is not enough, and the new line appears too close to initial and merges with it the distance offset is too great, and the new line departs for visibility limits the current layer is off, and on it a new line we do not see. MisterJingles Posted February 19, 2010 Author Posted February 19, 2010 Geobuilder - I understand all of this but none of these problems are applicable here. Thanks though Quote
BearDyugin Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Strange options at you Enter an option [Distance/Radius/Angle/ARea/Volume] At me in 2010 at offset only Enter distance of offset or [Through/Remove/Layer] : Quote
MisterJingles Posted February 19, 2010 Author Posted February 19, 2010 Geobuilder - No this is because I was using the MEASURE command when I took the screen shot. I was trying to show that my 0.6 distance is not too near or too far from the object to be visible. Quote
ashlie706 Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 The current layer appears to be locked. That's why it won't let you offset. Quote
BearDyugin Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Well. Then in a command line write (entlast), then execute a command _offset, then again (entlast), then press F2 and make a screenshot Quote
BearDyugin Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 The current layer appears to be locked. That's why it won't let you offset. Attentively look at a picture Quote
MisterJingles Posted February 19, 2010 Author Posted February 19, 2010 GEOBUILDER - LT seems not to recognise the ENTLAST command. ASHLIE - Thanks but the layer is not locked. Nevertheless I changed the layer and with this particular polyline it will not offset. I created lines and circles on the same layer and it offsets without hassle. Its just this object which it is not happy with. Why is this? It doesnt give me an error, it just doesnt do what I want it to. Quote
nukecad Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Is it a polyline or a spline? If it is a polyline then try converting it to a spline and then offsetting. Quote
MisterJingles Posted February 19, 2010 Author Posted February 19, 2010 It is a Polyline. I converted it to a Spline and it offsets perfectly. Why is this? Quote
Cad64 Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Is it a 3DPolyline? Post the file so we can take a look. Quote
Coosbaylumber Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 On occasion, I need to offset a polyline to INSIDE of the figure. If I miss a decimal point, then what looks to be near zero of a new line shows up. For it is so concentrated, the lines will overlap, and the processing is done, but I do not see a figure. If I got to outside of the figure, then usually no problems. Wm. Quote
MisterJingles Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 RE Cad64 - Ive uploaded the file, could someone tell me how to attach it to my message? ...Nevermind Offset.dwg Quote
eldon Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Very curious. I managed to offset sucessfully. Quote
BearDyugin Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 I do not know why, but the vertex lying on a rectilinear site was stirred. But to create the same problem polyline at me it has not turned out Quote
BearDyugin Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Lee Mac's program Dynamic Offset, could find some possible similarity Quote
MisterJingles Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Thats just bizzare. I wonder why it wont offset for me. I scaled the Polyline larger in case it had an issue with the radius but still nothing. *sigh* Quote
