graann Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I have just started using Inventor 10 after a couple of years with Autocad 2006. I am struggling with various aspects and attached are a couple of files which I am presently working with. Can anybody explain why 3 mm dia extrusion does not go horizontally through the object. I am sorry but it is the best description I can give. If anyone would be so kind as how I would approach going about the completed part it would be much appreciated. Quote
Lazer Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Pick a face that is square to the the hole and sketch on it, your hole looks to me like you have sketched on the rib and not the square base. Quote
graann Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 Many thanks for your reply. When I tried to extrude/cut the 3mm hole I did the following. I created an xy workplane and dragged -35 mm to centre of large holes. Then sliced graphics. Then I sketched 3mm dia hole on work plane and extruded/cut in both directions. Any advice is very much appreciated. Quote
Lazer Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 The way I did it was I sketched on the face of the base (see above workplane location) the projected the geometry of the boss then placed a workpoint in the correct place, then used the hole feature to make the hole. EDIT:Looks like you only have half the hole? Quote
