lulumara Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 I usually go wrong binding an x ref my problem is when I bind 4 separate xref one of them says unloading it but I click the unloading button but didn't unload at all then I bind all the remaining 3 xref at no avail the whole xref -4 of them were still attached to host dwg .What else should I do to bind the 3 xref? Dipali Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 check if they are nested x-refes. In that case you will have to open a host drawing of that nested x-ref bind it there. then open your main file & bind remaining x-ref. One advice, use insert option of bind dialoguebox & not the bins option because the bind>bind option will creat seprate layers for xref with uncalled cherecters in layer name like $ which makes file heavier in size. so use bind>insert & then if you wish you cna explode the bound drawing. lulumara Posted August 15, 2008 Author Posted August 15, 2008 I cannot bind the nested xref in the first xref because we're prohibited to bind our xref (company's policy) just dwgs that we shall be sending in client. Any other alternative, I read that you can go back to xref with nested xref that you can detach it and attach it again with overlay it not full path what is overlay? Quote
Dipali Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 overlay is a mode of xref. you can change form attched to overlay in xref manager but the drawing which is in overlay will not be carry forward to the other drawing in x-ref Quote
lulumara Posted August 15, 2008 Author Posted August 15, 2008 Any other solution or suggestion in order to bind all the xref?? Quote
Cad64 Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 You can't bind nested xref's. You need to detach the xref's and then load them all individually. Then you should be able to bind them. Instead of binding the xrefs, why don't you just ETRANSMIT your drawings. Quote
lulumara Posted August 15, 2008 Author Posted August 15, 2008 I'm just following company's rules and how they do their work. Same time when I worked on these dwgs the nested xref was loaded in the xref already but I was told that if you put the nested xref to another xref you should use nested xref as overlay but you can't see them that's what I did can't see those dwgs in the host dwgs. They don't use etransmit . Not sure to use also kinda not familiar with it also. Quote
Cad64 Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 If you xref dwg-A as an Overlay into dwg-B, dwg-A will show up. Now, if you Xref dwg-B into dwg-C, dwg-A will not show up. Quote
lulumara Posted August 16, 2008 Author Posted August 16, 2008 Maybe that's the way dwgs that I was doing can't see the nested xref into the host dwg. Thanks for the replied,I learned a lot here in this forum. Quote
