Autocad 2005 on windows vista 64

hello,

I am new to the forum and autocad in general. I used to run autocad 2005 on my windows xp machine and it worked just fine. I got a new computer with windows vista 64 bit. I have installed the software and it comes up with some errors when installing, but the software works as long as i right click the icon for autocad and use the "run as administrator". The problem i am having is the mouse wheel no longer controls anything. On my old computer it would scroll up and down and if i pressed control key it would zoom in and out. How do i set up this feature in autocad? my mouse is a wireless rocketfish laser and it works just fine on the old computer.

any help would be appreciated.

And your mouse works in all other programs correctly (the wheel action scrolls)?

Yes, it works just fine.

And you checked the mouse-appropriate system variables in AutoCAD?

no, I dont know how to do that. How is this done?
