No idea fella. Is there any difference in this when using 2004 and 2007 ?

Yes it has changed, you used to get the PS dimension. If you need the PS dims for layout purposes change DIMASSOC TO 1, dim the objects, then change it back to 2 later for MS dims.

Just tried this, and it doesn't work.

Nor does it help with using the Distance command.

It works fine here, and of course it doesn't work with Distance command.

I can't think of a time when I would have wanted to know the equivalent distance in my layout but I guess there must be a need otherwise why include the option. Thanks.

i've just found another trick:

in layout, in a viewport (no matter the scale) dynamic input ON, osnap ON.

using command "distance", pick only the first point and move the mouse arrow to the second point but don't pick that - the result is written in the tooltip appearance.

Setting Coords=2 will display the relative polar coordinates on the status bar.
