azmir100 Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I've got 2 raw lines. Then I need to determine the tangents for that particular lines. The tangent distance for 1st line and 2nd line from center point must be same. As attached, how to calculate radius for the red circle and determine it tangents location......? Tq Quote
Glen Smith Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I think that there are an infite number of circles that fit your description. Try draw - circle - tan tan radius and specify different radiusesessss. Glen Quote

Command: c CIRCLE Specify center point for circle or [3P/2P/Ttr (tan tan radius)]: t Specify point on object for first tangent of circle: Specify point on object for second tangent of circle: Specify radius of circle: 25 Quote
azmir100 Posted October 21, 2009 Author Posted October 21, 2009 thanks for the feedback....;-) but if I don't know the radius value...so can I get the tangents? Quote
eldon Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 The lines are already tangents to a whole series of circles whose centres are on the line bisecting the angle between the lines. The tangent point can be found by drawing a line from the centre of the circle, perpendicular to each line. If you don't know the radius, you can not determine the tangent point. Quote
Glen Smith Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 I'm guessing here, but is this a homework assignment? What are the other constraints? There should be other data involved that will provide you with either the radius required or perhaps a third tangent which would limit this to one radius. We need more information to help you out.
