TBrandonLane Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Hello, i'm not sure if this has been answered already, i've looked through several threads of 3d pipe work, and am still unable to make what i want. I'm trying to make a fairly simple T joint pipe. So I've made two pipes where one T's into the other. (To do this I made two concentric circles, turned them into Regions, then subtracted the inner from the outer. Then I extruded this object to make a 3d pipe (3 inch inner diameter with 1/8 inch wall)). When i tried joining the two, it looks pretty good from the outside, but it leaves extra junk on the inside of the joint (see T joint 1 jpeg), which isn't too horrible, but i'd like to know how to clean it up. So what i tried to do is separate the two pipes, and "cut" them separately, by making 2 cylinders with the same diameters as my pipes, then placing them in their respective places. Then I used the union function on each of these objects. Then i exploded them, deleted the cylinders, and moved the two newly cut pipes back together, and used the union function on them. (see t joint 2 jpeg) Not only was that a little bit ridiculous, but the object it left me with was not solid (it showed just the walls, but it wasn't solid in between). Their must be some way to cut a cylinder along the face of another cylinder, but i sure can't find it. Any help, would be appreciated. Thanks. Quote
Patrick Hughes Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 This is how I would go about it. Create the external T Cylinder A, Cylinder B @90 degrees and union the two. Create the internal T Cylinder C, Cylinder D @90 degrees and union the two. Subtract the internal from the external. Quote
JD Mather Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Shell is your friend. Union your solid cylinders. From Solidedit select Shell and select the solid. Then click in the middle (more or less - just stay away from edges) of the three red faces and Enter. Enter wall thickness. T.zip Quote
