Can anyone tell me how I get two lines to attach themselves to the isocircle in the example shown on the diagram below (polylines in red needing attaching for illustration only).

Its driving me MAD! Im using AutoCAD LT 2006.

have you played around with the FILLET command yet

Jabba,

You could try drawing the isocircle with the sysvar PELLIPSE set on. Then explode the isocircle. I think you can then get a tangent to an arc segment on the isocircle.

You are in 3d view.

Check ucs & elevation.

Make sure arc objects and circle are not polylines and they are on the same plane.

Thanks for the suggestions people. Calcad, your suggestion works in theory but I cannot get it working practically, Never mind I guess I shall have to trawl the AutoCAD Bible to see if I can find a solution!

I read about this problem on another site and the solution was to draw the circles and connect the tangent points in orthographic view first then convert to isometric????

I dont do isometrics so cant really comment anymore than what i read.

If it is for illustration only then use the nearest osnap and trim what you don't want. About the only way to find the exact tangent in 2D iso is to use iso projection. But for a 2D iso drawing just fake it in and move on.

I remember this from my college course, it took a while for me to get the hang of it, all I will say is go back through you practice drawings, (the one that looked like a "T") and keep trying.

I'm sorry but I won't give you the answer to this one, because if i remember correctly that's the assignment dwg.
