cadmench Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I was in the process of changing a group of drawings from their default setup to the actual setup I will be using. I went back to check one of them and got a "write protected" warning. I opened it the first time to change the set-up and now I can't open it again to make more changes. I don't know how it got write protected, "there's nobody here but us chickens". How do you remove write protection? Quote
cadmench Posted June 6, 2008 Author Posted June 6, 2008 and by the way what is " thread rating " Quote
dbroada Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 don't know about thread rating but did you close your drawing before trying to open it again. I always work in single document mode but I know in multi document mode it is possible to try and open a drawing twice. Quote
lpseifert Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 In Windows Explorer, rt-clk of the filename, click Properties, there's a check box for Read Only or... If you're opening it from the dialog box in acad, make sure "Open read only' is not selected Quote
siddiquisalam Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 "drawing file is write protected" when i save file this error comes. how to solve . Quote
ReMark Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Close the other copy of the drawing that is open. Or.... Save the drawing under a different name using the option "Save as". Or.... Remove the read only attribute of the file. Quote
Tankman Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Might the drawings be stored on a server? The rest is easy. I like working with write protected files. That'll force me to save the drawing with a revision; i.e.: USMC-D17a (the small "a" being the revision). In your file manager (oops, old name), I mean Explorer, you can always delete, rename, change attributes, add comments (I like adding comments). Quote
