How to find Z axis?

Ok long story short, drawing a 3D room and would like to add things such as doors, windows etc.

In google sketchup when you need to draw a line straight up your cursor line will go blue so you know that you are in fact drawing it straight.

Could someone please tell me how to get the same effect in autocad 2009?

I can give more details if needed.

Thanks in advance!

Autocad gives you many indications on the direction your heading. If you have dynamic input you can see at the cursor your headed in the positive (

You can also use Polar tracking to keep your line at 90deg or any increment you wish.

Also, ortho in conjunction with your dynamic UCS will keep your lines going straight.

Hope this helps.

Things might go a little easier if you try using Dynamic UCS. There should be a button at the bottom of your screen with the letters DUCS.

Or, worse yet, you could do it the old fashioned way and type in coordinates for some LINE then. Go between zero-zero-zero and some other location higher yet.
