rkmcswain Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 This will cost you about 1 hour of billable time, but will save it back virtually immediately.. http://www.dotsoft.com/pdfimport.htm Quote

Coosbaylumber Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I dunno if is of any use to you or not. But have been using one version or another of WINTOPO. Can take a huge scanned drawing, via an OCE' machine. Out put the work to file as a TIF in (generally) 200-250 DPI. Then open up sme image in WINTOPO check infor as to if you got enought memory or not. The do a One Touch Vectorization. Save Vectors only. This creates a xxx.dxf file. The open up in Autocad, do a DXFIN, and it come in. Save as your title for drawing format. Big thing here is to use Photoshop to get rid of border, specs or whatever BEFORE converting. This will keep file size down then. You can get a freware version of WINTOPO at Soft-soft ona web tonight. Generally the freeware is good enough to do whatever you need to be done. There is also a Yahoo group on the two versions, but not much activity, for the bugs got worked out years ago. Wm. Quote

Tankman Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Try www.pdf2cad.com, not great but will get you started. Years ago I tried DesignCAD's trace command. Not great however, perhaps better today than 15 years ago. Another useful feature of DesignCAD 3000 is its Auto Trace command, which automatically creates vector outlines from bitmaps. The tool works by allowing you to scan an image, import it as a bitmap, and then select the colors to trace, which are then converted into vectors that can be imported and manipulated in DesignCAD.
