GOOD MORNING

 

CAN ANYONE HELP,

I SAVED MY DRAWING FILE LAST NIGHT (AutcCad2004) AND

THIS MORNING WHEN TRYING TO OPEN IT, THE ERROR READS:

INTERNAL ERROR:

eOutOfRange

SO I TRIED TO RECOVER, BUT DOES NOT WORK

SO I TRIED OPENING .BAK FILE (SAME PROBLEM)

 

HAS ANYONE COME ACROSS THIS ERROR ?

I CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE A FULL DAYS WORK ON THIS PROJECT

 

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPREICATED

Morning Roddy. Do you have another PC/AutoCAD to try to open the same drawing? If so, you can determine if it is the drawing that's at fault or if it's a problem specific to your PC.

Just tired opening drawing on another pc on network, it generates the drawing on screen the same as mine , up to the same point before the

error message appears. the drawing is a conveyor system drawn in

3D Models, is there any website specifically for error messages.

try doing a partial open and bring in a few layers at a time

or try inserting it as a block into a clean drawing

The file memory size seems ok 28,699 kb so i dont think

any information as been lost.

 

Anyway thanks for your help.

Is there any services on the web for uncorrupting drawing files

i will search.

Ran out of ideas on this problem.

I have tried opening the drawing file using AutoCad2006

(didn't work)

I have tried opening the file using a trial version of Intellicad

(didn't work)

 

Could i email the drawing to one of the members who

would have alot more knowledge than me ?

Hi autocadians,

 

I have just had a similar problem, caused by a power failure mid session, Autocad 2007, Drawing file not valid, tried the DXF, then a message saying File internal error. the partial open option goes off when click on this file, yet I can see it in the preview. Does anyone know any way to access it, thanks

Hey ReMark.

 

Ok, I tried recovering the drawing, but when I tried to open the recovered file, it just said "drawing is not valid". I also noticed that the size of said recover file was 0kb.

 

Tried renaming the .bak file, it actually loaded a little more than the corrupted file itself, but then I got a similar error message (but instead of "out of range" it said "permanently deleted".

 

I downloaded a batch converter to try and pull it back to R14 (I heard that works sometimes), but the converter gives me an error saying "Error opening file: CRC doesn't match". I tried it with a non-corrupted file; it works fine.

 

Then in desperation I tried downloading a data recovery program in order to access older .bak files (not sure if it even works like that), but that proved fruitless as this file is on my company server, and the recovery program would only recognize my C drive (though it had an option to scan "Unmounted volumes").

 

And then I gives up.
