stephenward Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 when i pick point for hatch: Rather than the hatch sitting neatly around the text it is annoyinly offset. can u help. see attached Quote
StevenMc Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 could you just hatch the full area then draw a rectangle around the text and trim? Quote
CADMASTER1128 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 could you just hatch the full area then draw a rectangle around the text and trim? Hey Steven, I dont think you can trim a hatch pattern. I think he is wanting a solid hatch. Quote
StevenMc Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Hey Steven,I dont think you can trim a hatch pattern. I think he is wanting a solid hatch. HI Steven. ok didnt know that . i know you can trim other hatch patterns but have never tried it with solid. learn something new everyday i guess i would go for the same option as you steve Quote
CADMASTER1128 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 I am showing and example of what to do here. I am not using ANSI 31 hatch pattern. When you want to HATCH select everything you wish to HATCH. Even the inner rectangle. Quote
stephenward Posted July 22, 2009 Author Posted July 22, 2009 i could draw round and trim but i'm sure i used to just drop the hatch in there and it would automatically detect the correct location of the text. it's as if *something* has changed... and since i use it a lot i could do with finding out what the problem is. StevenMc Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 did you just use pick points there rather than select objects? Quote

CADMASTER1128 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 did you just use pick points there rather than select objects? Select objects. I should have posted that before. Thanks Quote
StevenMc Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Im not getting what you are saying here. i think i get what he means although not sure how to sort it. do you mean if there was text in the area you hatched then it would detect there was text there and automatically trim around it? Quote
stephenward Posted July 22, 2009 Author Posted July 22, 2009 yeah, the little rectangle in my attachment was created automatically by autocad as it detects text and tries to draw round it except for some reason its offset in the wrong position and i'd like to rectify. do you see? Quote
StevenMc Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 well when i want it trim around the text i select the object AND the text to hatch. so the only thing i can think of is that maybe you have text thats in an off layer in that area? Quote
CADMASTER1128 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 What are the steps you are doing? I just did the hatch process on my computer and work great. Quote
stephenward Posted July 22, 2009 Author Posted July 22, 2009 i have a box drawn in layer1 i have text within box on layer2 i then 'pick point' solid hatch onto layer1 = strangely offset automatic cut out to hatch Quote
CADMASTER1128 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 What I did was selected the rectangle and text using SELECT OBJECTS. The I hatched it with no issue. Quote
StevenMc Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 i would select objects then select the box and the text that does the trick for me Quote
stephenward Posted July 22, 2009 Author Posted July 22, 2009 well, thanks for your help, but even though my colleague and yourselves have no problem, for some reason my situation is - offset. unresolved. Quote
StevenMc Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 sorry to hear that Stephen just realised that we're all stevens in here Quote
CADMASTER1128 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 How many Steven's are needed to to solve a CAD problem? (LOL) Quote
