Differenc scales for same blocks in a drawing

Recommended Posts

I looked and looked and can not find a solution for this. I'm currently working on a drawing and inserted a block at a scale of 96. Later in the same drawing I was on another part of the drawing and inserted the same block (it was easier than searching for the block on the drawing). When I inserted the block I just went into me block history and pulled it in. When I went to scale it to 96 the scale is off. Now I am going crazy because I can't seem to figure this out. Is there a command or default variable for inserting blocks that might have some how gotten changed? Thanks for the help.

have you listed both blocks to confirm their scales? What is their relative scale?

The original block was created at 1:1 scale. When I bring in the new block and put it to the scale of 96, it sends the existing blocks to a scale of 3.7795.

I don't know how to help you as you are using MEP (I have never seen "history") but you are getting the scaling messed up by a factor 25,4 - which is mm -> inch factor. There are lots of posts on here about the INS* variables that influence how AutoCAD interprets metric/imperial scaling.

What I mean by history is, when I use the insert command a dialog (pop-up box) comes up, I go through the drop down list and select the device. Thank you for the help, I will take look at the INS varibles.

That is a list of the blocks currently in your drawing.

There are several variables that start with INS. If you have express tools check the system variable editor, it gives a brief description of what each variable does.

Thanks, I will take a look at that also.

What does PROPERTIES report for the scale of each size block in your drawing?

Posted

For the existing blocks the properties report 96. When I insert the same block at 96 the new stays scaled at 96, but the existing get scaled down to 3.7795. This wouldn't be a problem if there was a command like scaletext, but for the lines of the block.

What units is the original block drawn in, and what units is the drawing you are inserting it into set to?

- The original block is drawn in Architectual - Inches.

What units is the drawing you are inserting it into set to?
