LionRampant Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Hey all, I am a new member. Basically, I am having some trouble with Autodesk Inventor. I am running Autodesk Inventor 11 Student Version, and I have recently completed a final presentation assembly for a design competition. However, as it is the student version, a dialogue box appears when opening the file which states: ''Warning: The file being opened was not created by a student version. If the file is saved in this version of the software, it will contain a permanent plot banner indicating it was created in a student version.'' I don't understand the first part of the message, because the file was created in a student version, as it is the only version I have. The result of this is that when I try to save an image of the assembly as a bitmap, it has a plot banner in the form of a blue grid on top of the image, which is unsightly to say the least, and would therefore not be suitable to be submitted in a design competition. I am therefore asking if there is any way in which to obtain high quality images of the assembly file which I have created which would not be affected by the ''permanent plot banner''. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Quote
shift1313 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 The rendered image has this banner? I know if you plot from an idw it will have this banner but if you render to file, the jpeg image shouldnt contain this(as far as i know) Where your files created during a 30day trial or something along those lines? LionRampant Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 Since posting this I have been trying to work this out, and I have noticed that when I save the assembly file as a bitmap or a jpeg with dimensions of 2000x2000 pixels, this blue grid does not appear on the image, but when I save the image with dimensions of 3000x3000 pixels or above, the subsequent image does have this blue grid on it. I am not sure why this is, do you have any ideas as to why this might be happening? The assembly was not created in a trial version, it was created in an Inventor 11 student version, which has a two year licence. Perhaps this has something to do with it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Quote
shift1313 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 im not sure. I have a student version at home but not here at work so i cant experiment with it. Quote
JD Mather Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 ... which is unsightly to say the least, and would therefore not be suitable to be submitted in a design competition. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I would raise a rucus like you wouldn't believe, including promise of lawsuit. What contest is this? Why does the student banner make it unsuitable for the competition? Do the judges not understand ethical uses of software? Please identify the contest. Students should not be penalized for ethical use of student license. Now, if this contest is a commercial use of the software in violation of the student license EULA... BTW students can download Inventor 2010 for free from http://engineersrule.org Quote
