Geoffers Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Is it just my PC? My desktop and task bar icons for AUGI forum and CAD-tutor change randomly during a day, over two days, or a week... There are two variations for each but a few minutes ago a new one appeared for CAD-tutor - what's happening? It has been like this for several weeks; am I alone in this? Help. Quote
rkmcswain Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Desktop and taskbar icons? Windows controls them. What are they changing from/to? I have seen toolbar icons in FireFox go haywire. Here is how I fix that: http://rkmcswain.blogspot.com/2007/07/firefox-bookmark-icons.html Quote
CADTutor Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 This is almost certainly a Windows issue. The icon here has not changed for some time. Quote

CADtutor varies between ' out of focus flattened white pacman' and, sorry can't remember the other!! no other icons change so it seems to be something to do with forum type website. I did start using FireFox a few weeks ago but the problem started way before then... I will try to capture them... Quote
CADTutor Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Your desktop icons for CADTutor should look like either of the ones shown below (assuming IE is your default browser). If you're seeing anything wierd (as you have described) it is a problem with your OS or your browser. Are you saying that you have lots of desktop icons for different websites but only those for forums are changing - the others are OK? Quote

I have only those two forum websites. Quote
CADTutor Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I have only those two forum websites. I suspect that if you had other website links, they would also be looking strange - can you post an image? Quote
Geoffers Posted April 4, 2008 Author Posted April 4, 2008 these are the current icons (how was my description?) Quote
Strix Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 'square root sign cut out in metal' isn't that the vBulletin icon? The software that this forum runs on? SF has it to, as does Petmeds Quote

Geoffers Posted April 16, 2008 Author Posted April 16, 2008 ...twelve days later the Cadtutor icon has changed to 'the fish' - don't understand it ??? Quote
Geoffers Posted November 18, 2008 Author Posted November 18, 2008 10 months after the random icons problem stopped, I know not how or why, they are back. They're different though: Cadtutor is a 'TSF' diagonally across a square, AUG forum is a white circle with orange dots and a few purple squiggles weird Quote
Geoffers Posted November 18, 2008 Author Posted November 18, 2008 like this, do you recognise them? Quote
Geoffers Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 is this a virus? Norton hasn't picked it up if so. but why did the problem disappear for so long before returning, and it only affects those two shortcuts, now they're correct again...? Quote
skipsophrenic Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Have you got all the latest Anti-Virus updates? Sometimes i have to run the live update 3 times with norton before it gets them all. Quote
