psyfr3ak Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 hello, i don't know what i've pressed but now i can't draw lines with the poliline tool, after i insert the first point i can't draw an arc or a rectangle. how can i change back to the line settings? Quote
ReMark Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Polyline. You can't draw a polyline, an arc or a rectangle? Then what does happen? What are you seeing as a prompt on the command line near the bottom of your screen? Quote
Zorg Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 check the layer is not frozen or turned off. the objects might be there, you just cant see them! Quote
ReMark Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 This is what you should see at the command prompt when using the Polyline (PLine) command. Note that in AutoCAD 2007 (full) there is no option for a rectangle. That is a stand-alone command. PLINE Specify start point: Current line-width is 0.0000 Specify next point or [Arc/Halfwidth/Length/Undo/Width]: Quote

Zorg Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 attach pictures here in future, forigen sites are hard to use for us non bi-lingual type. Not to metion, it timed out several times can you upload it here? Quote
ReMark Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 First you said: "i can't draw lines with the poliline tool, after i insert the first point i can't draw an arc or a rectangle." Now you say: "i want to draw lines with poliline, not arcs, not rectangles, just simple lines." I guess what you typed isn't what you meant then. Confusion reigns supreme. So, the Polyline command is not working at all? How are you invoking the command? Are you picking it off a pull-down menu, clicking on a button or typing it in at the command line using a command alias? Quote
ReMark Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Are you using the Polyline tool found on the Draw toolbar by any chance? Have you modified your toolbars, specifically, the one for the polyline command? Quote

Tiger Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 The trouble is that you haven't yet told us how the problem presents itself - a link to a screenshot that you then have to download is not a good idea, I for one don't want to download something from a site I can't understand, no matter who sent me the link. When you start the Polyline command - what does it say on the commandline? Simply copy the text there, and past it here. Quote

Simply copy the text there, and past it here. after i start the command from the toolbox menu on the commandline i have first the text "specifiy start point", and after i insert first point i have the text" specify next point or[arc/halfwidth/lenght/undo/width]". i'm tring to insert the second point for my line, but i obtain an rectangle. Tiger Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 And I assume that if you do just click, you actually get a rectangle? Because that looks more to me like a marking box, it doesn't look like the rectangle command. And from the commandline it looks like the correct Polyline command.... Have you tried restarting autocad and/or your computer? Quote
psyfr3ak Posted May 27, 2009 Author Posted May 27, 2009 yes. i've restarded but it's the same. only for that file. if i'm working at another file everthing it's normal with the poliline. Quote
eldon Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 It looks to me as though you are trying to draw with a very very wide polyline Where you have the option of "width", take that and set the width to zero. Or you could check the system variable PLINEWID and set that to zero. The variable PLINEWID is remembered in each drawing, so your problem would only happen in the one drawing Quote
