Lee Mac Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Yea I could use some luck! I am going to make a trip to the library this weekend and maybe a used book store or two are there any books on Lisp that you would recommend? To be honest, I don't actually know of any good books on LISP, as, most of what I have learnt is from the net, and the resources in AutoCAD. I'm sure others may have suggestions however Quote
Commandobill Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Between this site, jeff sanders, afra lisp and the lisp help file i've never needed a book. Of course freerefill still thinks all of my lisps were created using magic... Quote
TheNewGuy Posted May 29, 2009 Author Posted May 29, 2009 Wow I must be an idiot! I did not notice that there was a separate help file just for lisp! I just looked through it real quick and that is going to be useful. I taught myself AutoCad from the help file.(with some questions answered here in the forum) But I did not find Jeffery P. Sanders very useful. It was ok. And I forgot about Afra lisp. I looked at that site last week some time, and then never went back till today. It looks much more useful. Thanks for your input. Hey Commandobill, Do you know anything about VBA programing? Quote
Commandobill Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 I'm surprized you didnt find jeff useful i love that site. Umm i dont really know that much about it. I've written a few minor programs using that language. but there is also a tutorial on the basics of it in the autolisp help file believe it or not. Quote
TheNewGuy Posted May 29, 2009 Author Posted May 29, 2009 Really? That is interesting. I haven't given up an jeff yet It just doesn't have enough walk through type examples for me at my current level. Maybe it's just me, I don't know. Anyway, thanks for your help. Quote

The best one I have ever found: AutoLISP Programming - Principles and Techniques by Rod Rawls/ Mark Hagen Still use it today. Quote

Jeff is where I first learnt - its a great site for learning all the different basic functions and their uses - like basic list functions... once you have them... you're away Quote
