Linetype with Text Shows Question Marks Instead

Hey all, This little conundrum my supervisor hit me with on my first week at a new job. It seems to me that I ran into it once or twice years ago working for a civil engineer, but, well- I've slept since then. No recollection of the solution. Anyway, he has a linetype of the 'line segments and text' variety (-- X -- X -- X -- for example) that isn't displaying text. Instead, it displays question marks, so the above example ends up looking like -- ? -- ? -- ? -- on screen. There are multiple linetypes of this sort in the drawing, but only one seems to have lost its mind like this. Whatever is doing it, purging the drawing and copy+paste of a sample segment from another drawing doesn't help- as soon as the copied segment hits, the text goes all ? again. Any ideas? We're all using vanilla ACAD 2014 here. -
Hello Everyone, Can you please tell me whether it is possible to convert text into lines. I need the text to be part of the surface for when being fabricated. Any help would be much appreciated.
