Recommendations for plotting to PDF
mickeforsberg posted a topic in AutoCAD Drawing Management & Output
Hello, I was wondering if there are any general recommendations on how to plot to PDF? I'll add some more questions to this. In the Page Setup, what plotter is recommended here? Currently I'm using AutoCAD to PDF (High Quality Print) with paper size ISO A3. But since we are also printing these drawings, and our printer's margins doesn't match the PDF size I have to downscale. And then of course the scale on the printed drawing is incorrect. Should I instead create a new plotter with the correct size specific for our printer? How do you guys do it? -
I work in the HVAC field. I've just around a year of experience with the program and have never had this problem before. I use 2 layers; 1 for piping and another for linears and dimensions, etc. For some reason, everything shows up on the model space, but once i plotted on the paper space, a good chunk of the layer i use for my dimensions are not showing up at all. I've regenerated the drawing, checked the frozen/unfrozen state, made sure the layer was on, went through layer properties and my printer logo does appear without the red line through it. If anybody has any input or have experienced this problem before, anything would help because i'm stuck. Thanks

Lineweight using my printer
Septe posted a topic in AutoCAD 2D Drafting, Object Properties & Interface
Hello, I'm trying to get my HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer to print my drawing when I have set the lineweights. Apparently, it won't show the heavier lines, consequently, all of the lines are the same width. I've looked and queried through Google and nothing came up relevant to my question. Is there a way to set up Autocad to address my printer? Thanks- 7 replies

Hey there. Long story short: we have 2 old computers running autocad 2002, because we have an old plotter, Synergix 8825, and it was/is going to cost us a ton of money to revamp our CAD department. Lo and behold! One of the dinosaurs died and now we are in a predicament. I am basically looking for the best/cheapest middle ground for an entirely new set up. Preferably keeping autocad 2002 because we have had no problems with that. My main focus is what system requirements i should have in the (2) new computers and what plotters/scanners have been found to be the most convenient/cheap/useful. We were holding off on purchasing new equipment and now we are in a bind. Thanx. Kip

Changing Printers Names for multiple layouts
flexifloat posted a topic in AutoLISP, Visual LISP & DCL
I have searched wide a long and have not found what I am looking for and I know you guys have the simple answer. We have changed our printer naming convention and I(we) need to update about 10,000 drawings. We have 4 default printer names and need to step through each layout and replace the old printer name with the new one. I wasn’t to create a lsp routing that we can add/run at startup and just update all of the layouts as needed model included. Eventually we will incorporate this into a script and parse all of the files in a directory an let them run. For now we will settle for the manual process as we open existing drawings Thanks for your help
