Hello everyone, I'm having some some issues with a sheet metal part I'm working on. Im very new to the inventor software, but can work thru most thing i come across. Our issue: We are designing a chute to fit around an inclined conveyor inside of a tank. I have made the sheet metal part by lofting two sketches on separate planes. The issue I'm having now, is that I cant cut a section of the sheet metal for clearance of the conveyor. I seem to get an error every time i try it. I even tried to convert it back to a standard part and try to a do an extrusion of the part to get it to cut it out, no luck. I will attach my part, I have the box in a sketch that needs to be removed from the sheet metal planes. If someone could please lead me in the right direction of what I need to do, and explain what I'm doing wrong, I would highly appreciate it. Thanks everyone Inventor 2010 Professional chute help.ipt

Can't seem to coincident-constrain two shapes on different planes
lizazelle posted a topic in Autodesk Inventor
I am trying to make a stylized model of a molecule and having some issues. Here's the sketch of what I'm trying to create: So far, I've been able to sweep a circle around a hexagon-shaped path, which will create the single-bonds in the benzene ring in the finished product: I made a circle on the XY plane, then made a hexagon-shaped path on the YZ plane, did a coincident contraint on the center of the circle and attached it to the path and then did a sweep along the hexagon path. Hooray. Then I needed to create the covalent / double-bars on every other section. I figured I would create another hexagon-swept ring, but with all double-bars, and then cut and copy the bits of each together afterwards so it would look like this: I tried sweeping to faces, but it only gave me one segment, but it didn't work. So then I thought I'd sweep two circles around the edges of a square-faced sweep in hexagon form to end up with two rows, like in this example: So here's my attempt, but I can't get the edge of the square in the middle of the two guide circles to coincident-constrain to the corner point of the hexagon path (I tried "project geometry" to no avail, and it's turned on automatically): Here's the sketch of the face I'm trying to sweep: Not sure why it's not working this time around, and I might be going about this the wrong way... would love some help on this. Thanks! -
Hi, I am looking for some answers regarding planes in inventor. I have drawn some drawing off the xy, yz and xz planes and the ground is far away from the assembly. I want to know what can be done to remedy the problem. Can I constraint the grounded pard to an existing plane for example? Also, I want to know about mid planes between two planes being non-available in assembly. Is there an alternative? Thanks in advance, Regards, Nicolas.

Hey folks; Does anyone know of a good resource for learning intricate Solidworks functions for someone coming from an Autodesk Inventor background. I've had trouble projecting planes (default and user-created) onto a sketch surface and also getting a feature to create points in relation to each other so as to create a custom plane (workpoints in IV) thanks in advance for any suggestions Aaron
