How does everybody store their functions they use over and over? I'd like to start building a library of typical functions but am not sure how to build the document to store them for easy retrieval as needed. J. Logan

Hi I am looking for something that does proffesional drafting and can import an australian library of plants/walls/windows/roof(colorbond,etc) or already has one. Also it must have a 3d feature, and have this ruler reference feature or scale as it were that quickcad has. Also have plan tracing/floor tracing option and can do A3, it should draw lines and eclipses and stuff like that. I really appreciate your help thank you.

Hello, So basically I work for a company which designs and builds cupboards. We have particular textures available (i.e. different types of wood or gloss) I was wondering if it is possible to be able to drag an appearance (a JPEG image) onto an already drawn cupboard and for the mapping to be automatic. So on the front of the cupboard the wood grain should be vertical and on the side of the cupboards it is also vertical but with plain coloured filleted edging. Please could you help to find: 1) How to make a folder of our personal wood grains available from the SolidWorks Screen 2) How to make the mapping automatic so that when applying a certain wood grain it is always orientated in the correct direction along with the correct coloured edges. Any help will be greatly appreciated Thank you very much Sarah x

I have been trying to find some sources how to handle materials via LISP but it seems to be impossible to get anything out. Is it so that Lisp cant handle the material library? I have a custom material library containing materials that i want to attach to the selected block. Not to layer. vla-put-material seems to be an option but don't know how to use it. Any help is welcome.

Just as a reference point I'm using AutoCAD Mechanical 2015. I'm trying few different methods for which to basically create a library of symbols to use on my drawings. The best method that I can seem to find involves using blocks of some kind. The issue arises when I place multiple blocks of the same kind into one drawing. Is there anyway of making it so that when I edit one particular block that it doesn't alter the rest of them? I would like to be able to do this without having to explode my blocks and recreate them with different titles if possible. If that is not possible I'm up for suggestions.

Diesel and or advanced macro library
bmw1789 posted a topic in The CUI, Hatches, Linetypes, Scripts & Macros
Does anyone know of a place online I can go and there is an organized way of searching customized diesel macros and or macros that I can copy an place them in my autocad when I create a new command? For example..there are a lot of things I would like to search through and just evaluate whether I could make use of it or not. Maybe something's that gives a description and then has the macro available to copy right under/beside it. Any thoughts?- 9 replies

Hi there, So my job would like me to create a usable library of products to make things easier. We make custom cabinetry, but there are many more standard sizes that may be useful. I'm vaguely familiar with creating blocks and saving, but I'm trying to find out if there is a good way to go about making this library since the sizes will need to be changed often. Is it even worth creating such a library? Is there an easy way to temporarily edit blocks to make them a few inches bigger or smaller? I've been using AutoCAD technically for years, but it's been very on and off, and I learned on my own so I don't know all the correct ways to go about things. Help?

Hi, I'm having some problems giving certain parts in my assembly a unique file name. Im reorganizing all of my projects in a - content center - designs - libraries way, where my projects are under designs and commonly used parts under libraries. Now i have something like a pump. I can derrive this assembly into a solid and put it in the content center, or keep the assembly and put it in te libaries folder. since this is a part i use in multiple projects. Now my problem is that this pump has a different name in every project, and a library part doesn't allow me to change this name. Say standard name is "centrifugal pump" while the project name in project 1 would be P101, while in project 2 it has to be named P501 and so on in order to match with the flowcharts. Is my only option here creating a solid out of these components and putting it all in my content center ( leaving my libraries folder totally empty ), adding it as a custom part afterwards ( so i can rename it ). I rather have it in my library folder, since this will keep my design folder organized without hundreds of duplicates of this pump, using different names. Besides i rather have it as an assembly so i can assign the connectors of the pump to different sub assemblies of piping. I hope it's all clear.
