    Best-Fit Surafce?

I have a existing surface (a surveyed road), which I need to raise 70mm and create a new best-fit surface from it. The new best fit surface can only be a maximum of 15mm plus or minus from deflection points in the exiting profile of the raised surface. Is there a best fit method to do so? Please feel free to ask me more question if need be, thank you.
  2. Hey there, Version: Civil 3D 2012 and use CTBs for our plotstyles. I'm not sure how to exactly express this question so try and stick with me on it. I'm working on a fairly large project that requires an excessive amount of base drawings. We frequently will be asked to have a drawing made and issued in a morning. To make sure we can constantly throw these drawings together quickly we've setup an xref system of all our base mapping data. (I'm sure this is a common thing but its the first time I've been exposed to it). A lot of these drawings will have polylines with global widths on them. The problem with this is that global width doesn't always work so well when changing scales (we frequently bounce from 1:100 to 1:20,000) or when you just don't need the line to be so thick. Two questions: 1) Would anyone advise us to stop using global widths on lines in the base drawings and switch to a method of setting lineweights of the xref layers when you xref in a drawing. 2) We've tried what I've suggest in question one but find that it ends up rounding off the end of the lines. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? I realise this was long winded and maybe a bit confusing. I'll be following the thread closely so please ask if you need any clarification. Thanks!

    How to display Menu Bar

My Menu bar for AutoCAD Civil 3D, 2012 is not showing. when I used the command "MENUBAR" or using the dropdown list from the task bar, the only thing that appear in the position of menu bar is "Expres" instead of "File" e.t.c. How can I get the menu bar back please?
  4. Dear Fellow DeepCADers, Our office recently upgraded to AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 from AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010, and I'm experiencing one very annoying issue. When opening drawing files that were made in 2010, we frequently find these 4x20 solid hatches in either magenta or cyan. Sure, we could easily just click and delete them... But what is causing these random hatches to be created? At first I thought maybe Civil 3D was misreading our legends and creating a hatch from them (we usually have hatches in our legends), but in the attached photo you'll see a part of a drawing that had no legend, viewports, or hatches previously still fell to this annoyance. You'll notice the little guy behind the text box... Is there a way we can prevent this from happening in the future? Is there anyone out there who is experiencing the same issue? I've searched forums for an answer, but, as of yet, it seems that my coworkers and I are the only ones who are having this problem. Thanks for your time! Thomas
