annotation scale Delete unwanted annotation scale
rehan0129 posted a topic in AutoCAD 2D Drafting, Object Properties & Interface
I am creating a template drawing but while making this drawing I was working on two different versions of AUTOCAD (2012 & 2013). I have prepared my title sheet block but there are two scales in the drawing and I want only one i.e that is 1:1 but somehow there is one more scale which I am sure is coming 2012 version. I am trying to remove this scale as both the scale has same factor but I am unable to delete it as it says its being used by some object. I searched everything but could not find which object is using this 1:1000 scale. Need help to remove this scale and load only standard scale. AR template.dwt -
Multileaders, Annotation, and Background Masks
CyberAngel posted a topic in AutoCAD Bugs, Error Messages & Quirks
I have a survey xrefed into a site plan. In the survey there is a multileader that needs to appear at two different scales, so I made it annotative. The same multileader sits on top of a hatch (which is in the site plan), so I gave it a background mask. At 1"=20', the larger scale, I can adjust the mask so that everything looks fine. When I switch to 1"=10', the other scale, the mask is too wide, and there's a big blank space. When I adjust the mask at 10 scale, the mask becomes too narrow for the 20 scale text, which wraps onto a second line. Apparently, I can make one version look nice, or the other, but not both. Has anyone else seen this? Is there some magic fix?- 1 reply

Annotative Text - Paper Space, Model Space, Style Relationships?
dal-designs posted a topic in AutoCAD 2D Drafting, Object Properties & Interface
This is just a general question about annotative text, something I've noticed as we transition from 'each scale has its own text-dimension layer' to 'annotative'. I'm still a bit confused by the relationship between annotative scales in both DIMSTYLE and STYLE, and viewports, and actual plotted size on paper. For example, my 3/16"=1' annotative scale measures 8" high in model space (as measured through the viewport, which is set to the same anno scale). It measures exactly 1/8" high on paper when printed- with the anno paper text size set to 1/8" in STYLE. Now, that's fine with us engineers- mostly, we just want our text to be uniform. However, our architect insists that something is wrong because that text should measure 6" high at that scale, he says. He even gave us a handy chart to use: SCALE: RATIO: TEXT SIZE: 1/16"=1' 192 18" 3/32"=1' 128 12" 1/8"=1' 96 9" 3/16"=1' 64 6" Etc etc. I'm sure you're all familiar with this. So...what's the deal here? Are us engineers right, or is the architect? It seems to me that maybe if the text measured 6" high in model space via the viewport, then the text would be 1/10" on paper...which again would be fine so long as everything is uniform, but a bit smaller than our norm (which is theoretically Arial 12 pt font). And if our architect is right, then how do we get the text to be 1/10" high on paper while keeping our UNITS set to Architectural? I tried setting STYLE text height to 1/10", but it seems that ACAD is having none of it so long as the UNITS are set to Imperial fractions of an inch.- 8 replies

Hello Is it possible to code a custom linetype, so that it only follow certain annotation scales (eg. 1:100, 1:200 1:500) and so that it just appears as a continuous line below and above these certain scales? The solution should work even when the drawing is used by others and apply to both modelpsace and paperspace (viewport). Please help - thanks!

How to use annotative objects correctly?
Kiwinopoulos posted a topic in AutoCAD 2D Drafting, Object Properties & Interface
Hello, My mtext and multileader styles are created to be "annotative"; however, they didn't have a consistent size through all my different scaled viewports. When I drew them on my model, I added the scales needed, but on the viewports, the only objects consistent in size were the "Drawing Title" from my tool palette and the arrowhead from the multileaders. When I created these objects, I typed in 0'-0" for the height. But then in the text panel (Annotate tab) I saw there is a drop-down menu with different heights, which seem to override the 0'-0" height. I ended up drawing these objects on paper space, and they looked fine until I opened the drawing days later (the text was considerably larger). How can I draw mtext or multileaders on model space, and add scales correctly? Thanks- 2 replies

I am little new to autocad. I was finishing up my autocad project I noticed that the little arrow next to the annotation scale on the bottom right corner of the page was gone. The little arrow shows a list of scales in autocad so you can properly scale your drawing. Does anyone know how to bring the arrow back or is it a glitch?

Hi all I am going through my viewports properties, changing the annotation scales that for some reason are different to the viewport scales (why you would want a different annotation scale i dont know) does anyone know how when i make a viewport, with a certain scale, i can have it that the annotation scale automatically is the same as the veiwport scale? cheers
