I'm looking to buy a new laptop to run AutoCAD 2015 on. I only use 2D functionality because that's where required for the software I use with It (Shear97 rebar detailing). I know I want an SSD, i7 processor, 16 GB maybe 32 GB of RAM, etc. but I'm confused about what to do for a GPU. 1 of the laptops I'm looking at (Sager) come standard with the GPU that's part of the i7-6700 processor which is Intel 530. From what I've read this should be adequate but I can easily upgrade the laptop to a Nvidia GTX950 or higher. My question is what is anybody else running for a GPU for routine 2D CAD work and what would you recommend? Thanks, Mark

Help with stretching an ellipse arc?
Vandalgyon posted a topic in AutoCAD 2D Drafting, Object Properties & Interface
Ok I hope this is in the right section. Anyways, I'm trying to make a (for lack of a better term) squarish ellipse. I know that sounds odd and the situation is a little subtle so please bear with me. I've tried a few things but they don't work too well, i.e. plines and lofting a rectangle with an ellipse then cutting it two but they just get me arcs that meet at sharp points. The jpg below is meant to show what I'm trying to do. I want to take that one quarter of an ellipse at the intersection and stretch/pull it to the midpoint of the line between the corner of the rectangle and the arc. The ellipse is made out of 4 ellipse arcs. I want to stretch just the arc without moving the ends of it at the quadrants. How might I do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.- 4 replies
